Traveling to Los Angeles for a few times over the last years to explore the city on extended bike rides doesn&rsquo;t sound like the common thing to do. But I did. During these journeys I took pictures of the hidden side of the City of Dreams, and now collected them in a solid book. Time changes what we remember.
It blurs the edges and makes details fade - sometimes unreliable, misleading, and even contradictory. Floating between imagination
and reality.

To preserve these memories, we tend to connect them with something, sometimes by accident - sometimes intended. Objects, places, habits, words, situations, colors, smells name it.

Photographer Tobias Bärmann captures some of these fleeting moments with his camera, seeking to preserve these little stories as lasting memories. To that end, he explores the city of Los Angeles with a keen eye for his surroundings, balanced on the thin line between personal memories and those of others.
